Camp Doesn’t Just Happen, It Needs Your Passion.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
                                                                                                  -Matthew 19:14

In the Gospels, Jesus gave the children in the crowd an opportunity to experience Him in a way all their own. Camp is a time set apart for children to come and experience Christ. At camp, youth have an opportunity to learn about scripture, ask questions, develop community, be accepted and experience unconditional love.

This summer, you have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ as children encounter God in this holy place. Being camp staff allows you to explore and expand your horizons, deepen your faith, expand your leadership capabilities, impact the world now and for years to come through the legacy of ministry.

The Holy Spirit is present here. Throughout our time on the shores of the Tennessee River, the faith experiences and God encounters on this holy land have led countless campers and staff toward a call to ministry, in many different vocations. Lakeshore alum often site camp as the place that led them to their calls in youth ministry, social work, non-profit, recreational therapy, religious studies, ordained ministry, church leadership and more.

But don’t think you have to be considering vocational ministry to work here. The skills you will learn as a summer staff member will be important and beneficial. By the end of the summer, you will have phenomenal time management skills all while wrangling twelve kids who can’t find their shoes. You will be able to start a conversation and build relationships with anyone, anywhere. You will be well-suited at multi-tasking in fast-paced environments by working canteen. Overall, you will become more flexible, adaptable and welcoming of the challenges any workplace may encounter. Check out this article from the ACA about the benefits of camp jobs.
