Here at camp something beautiful happens over a week’s time. Strangers become friends that quickly transform into a family. As a family, we celebrate the joys and weep at the sorrows. Unfortunately, this is one of those times that we hurt together.
Earlier in the week, we lost members of our Lakeshore family to a tragic accident. The Crenshaw family from Jackson, TN have been a part of our family since they started attending Primary Elementary camp 2010. They never missed a summer and attended several main and specialty camps. They were both adventurous and enjoyed Wilderness Watersports, and Jillian enjoyed the creativity of our Jr./Sr. High Arts camp.
Jillian, in the black t-shirt, is pictured above with her cabin during Elementary in 2012. Jacob, in the blue life jacket, is pictured below tubing with Wilderness Watersports in 2016.
Both Jacob and Jillian will be greatly missed by so many here and outside of Lakeshore. We are weeping for the loss of them both, as well as for their parents Joseph and Jennifer. They were the ones who valued the idea of their children learning about God’s grace while spending a week in the woods, making new friends, and sharing their talents They encouraged Jacob and Jillian to experience all that life had to offer, including during their weeks at camp. We appreciate their support for Lakeshore by continually trusting us with their amazing children.
Please be in prayer for their family, friends, church, classmates, co-workers, camp friends, counselors, leadership, and all the countless individuals that have been impacted by this loving family. For those of you who knew the Crenshaws, their obituaries and funeral arrangement information can be found here.
Do not forget the moments of life we shared with them, the deep love they showed, and that the God of grace is still moving in our lives.
