Lakeshore Camp & Retreat Center

Campership

Each summer, 17% of campers come to camp on a scholarship. This means that without the Campership Fund, over 450 children and youth would not be able to attend camp. Our mission is to “Offer ways for ALL to encounter life, love, and the God of Grace,” and this fund breaks down the financial barriers for children who want to share in the experience of Lakeshore.

Each year, Lakeshore gives out about $90,000 in camp scholarships. Many of these campers attend Camp Hope, a camp for those who have experienced past or present exposure to abuse. They attend camp free of charge. Another large portion of these campers participate in our special needs camps, Camp Wonder and Camp Joy, and receive 100% scholarships upon request.

The rest of the scholarships go to campers who attend our other camps on property as well as those who attend DayShore. DayShore is a day camp partnership between Lakeshore and churches throughout the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference. One of our partners is in Mayfield, KY. In December of 2021, Mayfield experienced a catastrophic tornado that completely tore apart their town. People lost their homes and businesses, and some even lost their lives. This community has experienced the unimaginable, so we want to be sure we are able to offer financial assistance to the campers who attend DayShore in Mayfield.

A gift of $400 provides one full scholarship to a Camp Hope, Wonder, or Joy camper. A gift of $150 provides one full scholarship to a DayShore camper. Any amount that you feel led to give will truly make a difference in the life of a child or youth who hopes to come to camp.

We could not do this without you, and we are so appreciative of all that you have already done. For more information about the Campership Fund, please contact Ashleigh Porter at ashleigh@lakeshorecamp.org or at 615-491-6416.
