Dockside Dreams

Joyce Wiggins first came to camp as a young camper in 1953, and her connection has deepened ever since. She brought youth from Raleigh UMC, volunteered as a camp nurse, served on the board of trustees, and continues to assist with summer staff interviews.

“The camp has done so much for young adults,” Joyce says. “If I am to be remembered anywhere, I’d want it to be here because this place gives me hope for the future.”

The camp’s waterfront holds special meaning for Joyce. It was named in memory of her son, Mark Wiggins, who worked on the summer staff from 1998 to 2001 and was a shining example of the camp’s mission.

Tragically, Mark lost his life in a drowning accident in 2002. The dock, dedicated to him, stands as a reminder of his legacy and the love and commitment he, like his mother, had for camp.

Now, over 20 years later, it’s time to update and enhance this cherished space to honor Mark’s memory and continue the mission Joyce and her family have supported for decades. Their story is woven into the camp’s fabric, a testament to enduring love, service, and faith.

Covered Boat Dock

We’re excited to breathe new life into our boat dock with a revitalizing upgrade. Our dream is to install a protective covering with five spacious bays, ensuring every boat has a safe and sheltered home. This enhancement will safeguard our equipment and enrich the waterfront experience for everyone who enjoys it.

Kayak/Canoe Dock with Launching Ramp

Imagine a future where paddling on our serene waters is even more accessible and enjoyable. We’re dreaming of a dedicated dock with a launching ramp designed to make kayaking and canoeing easier for everyone. This envisioned upgrade would open up new possibilities for campers of all skill levels to embrace the tranquility of our waters.

Supporting Camperships

At the heart of our mission is the belief that every child should have the opportunity to experience the transformative power of camp, regardless of their financial situation. Currently, around 17% of our campers attend on a scholarship, made possible by the generosity of our community. However, these children may miss out on this life-changing experience without sufficient funding. Your support is crucial in ensuring that we can continue to offer camperships, opening our doors to all who wish to encounter life, love, and the God of Grace

As we work to bring these important projects to life this fall, we’re inspired by the dedication of Joyce Wiggins, who has experienced the power of camp firsthand since 1953. Joyce’s connection to camp runs deep, from her own childhood experiences to her ongoing support in memory of her son, Mark. Your generosity is essential in helping us enhance the waterfront, expand our campership program, and ensure that every child can experience the lasting impact of camp. Together, we can turn these dreams into reality for future generations.
